Singers of the Street is a San Francisco-based choir made up of homeless or otherwise disadvantaged individuals. The group's some-odd 25 members congregate once a week to sing and enjoy a meal together. I spent over a year with this organization and became curious as to what attracted this diverse group of people to S.O.S. in the first place. Why a choir? What solace does this organization provide that others may not? I spent time with several members of S.O.S. outside of rehearsals, but it was the story of one member in particular that struck a chord.
